Student Profile: Augustine Eu (an update)

I first blogged about Augustine in April 2008. Since then, he has made amazing progress as far as his piano is concerned. Augustine has now gone to Alfred’s Level 2 & 3 Complete Book and he’s now in pole position, ahead of all my other beginner students. Well done, Augustine! Furthermore, he will probably be taking the ABRSM Grade 1 Theory exam next year, so that’s another feather in your cap, big boy. Congratulations, and keep up the good work, Augustine. EDIT: Augustine is taking the Grade 1 theory exam in March 2009—fantastic!

Here’s Augustine, together with his proud parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eu, in my piano studio.

Anthea sitting at my piano with her mother, Josephine

Anthea has been learning piano from me for about one and a half years now, and boy, is she smart! She already knows how to play a few of her pieces in Alfred’s Piano Level 1A from memory, and she’s always happy whenever she comes for her piano lessons. She’ll be going to the Level 1B book soon, and she definitely loves to play the piano. From what I heard, she’s already started to teach her mum, Josephine!

Congratulations on your rapid progress, Anthea. I’m proud of you! Open-mouthed

Alfred’s Piano Level Chart (pdf)

This spunky 9-year old has been learning with me for the past two years or so, and never ceases to amaze me! Augustine has a very playful disposition, but at the same time has a willingness to learn and to do what has been told. I must also thank his parents especially Juliana, for their very supportive roles. They normally attend Augustine’s lessons, and that does keep him in check! :P

Augustine is currently finishing Alfred’s Piano Level 1B; I’ve decided that at the rate he’s going, he will be moving on to the Level 2 & 3 Complete book. Well done, and keep up the good work, Augustine!
