The net can be a very deceiving place at times, but a little vigilance goes a long way. If something "feels" too good to be true (like all those international winning lottery tickets I get every day) it probably is. And if you're conversing with someone and somthing feels off - trust your instincts.

That aside, I agree with you completely. The internet provides so much - and much of it for free! Even the things you buy can be easily reasearched for comments from others who have been in your shoes (...say webhosting experiences?? LOL)

With a little diligence you can avoide the scams, or the substandards and come up with some of the best. It's no different than buying something in a store really. You never can be 100% sure of the quality of anything. It's sad that people "blame" the internet in such cases - it's just the nature of business & marketing really.

The net opens up a world of learning, friendships, free knowledge or products you might never have had without it. All in all, as long as you exercise a bit of common sense, it's one of the most wonderful resources we have today!
